With this in mind I strive for strong concept and design whilst maintaining sound methodology and practicality. My wealth of experience encompasses all aspects of creative production in animation.
A bit about me-
Having started as an inbetweener and working through the ranks and departments in the animation industry I have had the unique experience of actively participating in all stages in animation.
This means that I have an insider's perspective and understanding of the parameters and practicalities in every corner of production.
As a result I have developed the ability to work efficiently, effectively, collaboratively and dilligently whislt bearing in mind the overall world and workflow of the project concerned.
As a Director I have been given the invaluable opportunity to both mentor and learn at the same time. Although given my 'creative head' to a degree, and striving for excellence in design and execution, I also keep in mind the strictures of schedule and budget and thus tailor creative application accordingly. My focus on fostering, inspiring and mentoring is something that I consider an asset when endeavouring to get the best results from my team. 'There are many ways to skin a cat' so I encourage my teams to think outside the box when brainstorming and designing. Through this I have been able to create and maintain the overall look of series, giving clear direction and follow through. In this manner I have also theorised and developed unique systems needed to solve complex problems in production. I have Directed two animated series in both 2D and CGI and have been Development Director for a third in CGI.
As a storyboard artist I strive to create a blueprint that has the features needed to ensure smooth, hassle free, workflow, but also, to tell a story interestingly and expressively with the right amount of contrast and drama. A good storyboard needs to be clear, easy to follow and exciting whilst following the style and content of the production it represents. My boards display and contain these properties. A good board gets any production off to a good start. I have boarded on several animated series and have over 15 years experience.
Other than this I have worked as an Animator (2D), Layout Artist (2D), Background Designer (2D)and concept Artist (2D,3D).
